Description

Horse Amino Acid Supplement for Topline, Muscle & Performance

Why Amino Acids Matter for Horse Health and Topline Development

Amino acids are often called the building blocks of protein because they are essential for muscle tissue, enzymes, hormones, and many other functions throughout the horse’s body. Horses can produce some amino acids naturally, but the ten essential amino acids must be supplied through the diet. When the diet does not provide enough of an essential amino acid, the horse may not be able to efficiently use dietary protein for muscle maintenance, development, and repair. This is why amino acid balance can be more important than simply feeding more protein.

Pro Amino was developed to provide a complete amino acid profile rather than relying on only one or two individual amino acids. By supplying all ten essential amino acids along with six non-essential amino acids, Pro Amino provides targeted nutritional support for normal muscle maintenance, topline development, tissue repair, healthy growth, performance, and overall body condition.

Why Do Horses Need Essential Amino Acids?

Horses need essential amino acids because they cannot produce them in sufficient amounts to meet their needs. These amino acids are fundamental to protein synthesis and are important for maintaining muscle, supporting growth, and repairing and maintaining body tissues. Essential amino acids must be consistently supplied through the horse’s daily diet, including forage, feed, and targeted supplements when needed.

Which Horses May Benefit From Additional Amino Acid Support?

Many horses may benefit from targeted amino acid support, particularly those with increased nutritional demands or difficulty maintaining muscle and condition, including:

  • Performance horses in regular training
  • Horses returning from injury
  • Senior horses losing muscle tone
  • Growing foals and young horses
  • Pregnant and lactating mares
  • Hard keepers
  • Horses recovering from illness
  • Horses with poor topline

Unlike products that simply add more protein to the diet, Pro Amino focuses on providing the amino acids horses need to support muscle development and maintenance. Protein quality matters—not just the amount of protein in the diet.

Why Flaxseed and Chia Matter

Pro Amino also includes premium milled flaxseed and chia seed, providing naturally occurring Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. These essential fatty acids provide additional nutritional support for healthy skin, coat condition, and overall wellness.

Supporting Topline and Muscle Development

Developing and maintaining a strong topline requires more than supplementation alone. Proper exercise, balanced minerals, adequate calories, quality forage, dental care, and consistent conditioning all contribute to healthy muscle development. However, nutrition provides the building blocks needed for the body to maintain and develop muscle tissue.

Providing adequate essential amino acids is an important part of supporting muscle protein synthesis and healthy muscle development. Whether your goal is helping a young horse develop, supporting an aging horse, improving nutritional support during recovery, or maintaining healthy muscle throughout the year, a balanced source of essential amino acids can be an important part of the feeding program.

Because Pro Amino contains no added vitamins or minerals, it can easily be paired with your existing Equine Challenge forage-specific vitamin and mineral supplements. This allows you to customize your horse’s nutrition according to its individual needs and forage without unnecessarily duplicating vitamins and minerals.

Pro Amino 10 Essential's

Pro Amino comes in a milled flaxseed base with added chia seed. Both flaxseed and chia seed are excellent sources for amino acids.

Arginine – can help the horse by preventing muscle loss and to restore lost muscle. In the muscle, it works as a building block for creatine. The horses body needs creatine to build and maintain healthy, strong muscles. In the arteries, it increases nitric oxide (NO). NO helps keep the endothelial cells healthy. Accelerates wound and burn healing.

Histidine – necessary for growth. An important constituent of muscle. Stimulates production of red and white blood cells. Helps treat arthritis.

Isoleucine – Used for muscular energy production. Helps treat nervous system degeneration.

Leucine – Maintains muscle strength during times of physical stress and intensive exercise. Inhibits breakdown of muscle proteins. Stimulates insulin release.

Lysine – The most important amino acid for improving growth in young horses. The major amino acid used as a standard for dietary content in growing horses. Aids in formation of antibodies to control viral infection. Important in fat metabolism. Supports hoof and coat health along with providing support for the immune system.

Methionine – Regulates cell metabolism and growth, antioxidant, constituent of muscles. Supports healthy skin, hooves, tendons, ligaments and cartilage.

Phenylalanine – Antidepressant and aids in pain relief for the horse.

Threonine – Essential for optimum growth, feed conversion and nitrogen balance in tissues. Component of digestive enzymes, immune system and muscle systems.

Tryptophan – Regulates growth hormone. May aid in control of nervous behavior. Promotes feed intake. Precursor for production of serotonin

Valine – Vital for muscle coordination. Metabolized in the muscle – energy metabolism and protein synthesis.

Best muscle supplement I have ever used. Noticed improvement in 7 to 10 days! I now have 3 friends trying it!!! My horse feels AMAZING.  I have never seen this dramatic results so quickly!  We’ve been on a it about 21 days and he’s shaved off 2 min/mile in his workout and isnt ready to quit!  He is 13 yrs old and has recently had trouble developing and/or maintaining topline.  No MORE!  He is getting his topline back and developing beautiful muscle at the same time.  I could not be happier!

I’ve been using this on a few of my racehorses and I’m very happy with the results so far. It’s a more complete product compared to others on the market. My horses are eating it well (it smells great), and I’m seeing noticeable improvement in their toplines, coats, muscle tone, and overall recovery. I plan to start using it across my entire barn. Highly recommend!

I have only used Pro Amino on my personal horses and the grass on clients horses.  I am completely blown away by how great the Pro Amino Formula works.  It alone has helped my ulcer prone filly.  Now I am not having to give ulcer meds as often, only when we travel.  Their coats looked good before but look wow now and their feet grow so fast.
